August 2022 Revenue in Ohio Casinos and Racinos Increasing

Ohio has 17 casinos and racinos. Four casinos are the most well known and are the ones counted when looking at these numbers. These are the Hollywood Toledo Casino, Hard Rock Cincinnati Casino, Hollywood Columbus Casino, and Jack Cleveland Casino. Ohio’s casinos and racinos have seen more money in this August compared to August 2021. They went from $194.2 million to $196 million, so a $1.8 million increase.

Total Revenue

The top four casinos have done a decent job this August, each netting at least $19 million. These four Ohio casinos had combined revenue of $84,253,850. Compared to the $82,477,352 done in August of last year, the numbers are noteworthy.

Hollywood Columbus

This casino had the most luck; excuse the pun, and pulled in the most. They brought in $22,229,828 for their revenue in August.

Hollywood Toledo

Unfortunately, Toledo was on that lower side. Their gain was a mere $19,054,307. Hopefully, they will have better luck in the coming months.

Hard Rock Cincinnati Casino

Hard Rock Casino Cincinnati fell in the middle in August. They had $21,152,459.

Jack Cleveland

Jack was still in the middle, but edged out above Hard Rock by just a tad. They brought in a revenue of $21,817,256.

Racinos

Racinos are as the name might sound. They are a combination of racetracks and casinos. It’s your one-stop shop for all your gambling needs. Their gross gambling revenue (GGR) for August is under what it was in July 2021. In August, these racinos gained about $118 million. In July of last year though, the GGR was $120.7 million. That’s a loss of $2.7 million.

Some places to go if you want to check out a racino are: MGM Northfield Park, Eldorado Scioto Downs, and Miami Valley Gaming. These did the best revenue for August. Others you could go look at in Ohio are these. Jack Thistledown Racino, Hollywood Mahoning Valley, Hollywood Dayton, and Belterra Park.

MGM Northfield Park

MGM takes the cake in this race with the highest revenue. In August, they had $24.2 million.

Eldorado Scioto Downs

Eldorado fell behind by a lot in August. They could only bring in $19.7 million.

Miami Valley Gaming

Miami was slightly behind Eldorado. It was not a ton, but still brought them into third place in this race. Their revenue was $19 million.

Racino Revenue Comparison

These three top racinos came in above the numbers they had in August 2021. The other one-stop gambling sites did not do as well. The order seen above is the order in which they brought in revenue. Jack Thistledown had the most, with $15.7 million and Belterra the least, with $7.7 million. The two Hollywood Casinos fell in the middle. Hollywood Mohoning had a revenue of $13.8 million and Hollywood Dayton $13 million. Their earnings are equal or less than what they received this time last year.

Getting Back On Track

The numbers now do not match what it was before the pandemic hit the world. There was a bigger slump when it was at its worst. This accounts for the dip in revenue for the period when the world had one of the lowest hands. Ohio’s casinos and racinos are seeing their numbers finally rising. They aren’t at the height of pre-pandemic yet, but numbers are growing. There’s a hope numbers will continue to increase as things progress and everything runs smoother again.

Getting People In

Because of the rise in gas prices, people are apt to stay closer to home. That is a plus for the casinos and racinos of Ohio when looking at the native population who frequents them. To get more people in the door, free slot vouchers are available. Also, they have also loosened up their machines some so there is more of a chance at a payout. In 2021, the payout at each slot machine was about 90.89%. Now, with these loosened machines, the number has increased to 91.02%. With this increased percentage, they are bound to get more bodies in the door, and more revenue coming in.

Conclusion

After a little slump, things are looking up for the casinos and racinos of Ohio. In August of this year, revenue was higher than it was at the same time last year. Certain ones are doing better than others. Money is getting put into these gambling sites again. As the world continues to improve, the revenue should keep increasing. This will happen when people take advantage of incentives such as free slot vouchers and looser machines.

What this means for the upcoming Ohio sports betting market, remains to be seen.
